Bleeding Heart & Granny’s Bonnet 2

Talk about “Ne’er cast a clout till May be out” – I just went outside for a garden ponder as it had (momentarily) stopped raining and came in with blue hands!

Nothing major to report (despite slugs eating off the centre of my angelica) – but the aquilegias are having a whale of a time! Currently the ones I have of the Barlow series (Aquilegia vulgaris var. stellata) aren’t out in flower, but are happily budding up.

Just as stunning this year is the white bleeding heart just behind.

And because they look so cheery and happy, the one remaining little bunch of violas! (Excuse the mad mint thrusting itself into the frame ….)

  1. That white bleeding heart looks amazing against the screen. I have a pink one and although it gets the prize for the longest flowering plant in the garden, I am not mad about it. Think I will have to get a white now.

    1. Mmm – I do love the white one! Tragically last year it got infested with mealy bug half way through the summer so was cut down early. This year it seems to have come back better than ever! I’m thinking about getting one of the golden-leaved varieties to go with it.
